Categories, inspection intervals and service schedules

Start from your trade's template, then set how often each kind of equipment is inspected and serviced.

A category groups similar equipment — ladders, generators, aerial lifts — and carries its schedule. Categories live in Settings → Categories.

Start from your trade's template

Under Start from a template, press the button for your trade: General contractor, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, Restoration, Landscaping, Facilities, Concrete, and Heavy equipment / rental. It adds that trade's usual categories and typical intervals. Categories you already have are skipped, so you can apply more than one template. Everything it adds can be edited afterwards.

Add or edit a category

Press Add category, or Edit on an existing one, and set:

  • Inspect every (months): how often items in this category are inspected. Leave it blank if they aren't.
  • Service every (days) or every (engine hours): the service interval, for reference.

What the inspection interval does

When an inspection certificate has no expiry date, the item's next inspection is the inspection date plus this interval. Change the interval and every item in the category is recalculated. See How an item's next inspection date is worked out.

Note

Service intervals are stored and shown, but FlowNext doesn't send service reminders yet. Inspection reminders are sent; see Inspection reminder emails.

Deleting a category keeps its equipment — the items just have no category until you give them one.
