How an item's next inspection date is worked out
The certificate's expiry date, or its inspection date plus the category's interval, and what changes it.
An item's Next inspection date — on its Details tab, the Equipment list, the dashboard and the compliance report — is worked out from its inspection certificates and its category:
- If any inspection document on the item has an Expires date, the latest of those is the next inspection.
- Otherwise, if a certificate has an Inspection date and the item's category has Inspect every (months) set, it's that date plus the interval.
- Otherwise there is no date, and the item shows “No inspection date” in the compliance report if it needs one.
Only inspection certificates count. A warranty's end date, a manual or a receipt never changes the inspection date.
What recalculates it
- Uploading, reading or removing an inspection certificate;
- changing the item's category;
- changing the category's inspection interval in Settings → Categories.
Overdue and due soon
An item is overdue the day after its date passes, and due soon within 30 days of it, in your company's time zone. Both are counted on the dashboard and emailed in the morning. See Inspection reminder emails.
