FlowNext vs. Hilti ON!Track
A Hilti ON!Track alternative you can start this afternoon
Hilti ON!Track is a full asset-management system: Bluetooth and GPS tags, gateways in your vans and on your heavy equipment, consumables with low-stock alerts, and a rollout planned with a Hilti consultant. It's at its best alongside Hilti's tool Fleet Management. FlowNext does one narrower thing: a QR tag on each tool, a crew that records moves with their phone camera, and a price you can read before talking to anyone.
Sensors and a consultant, or a tag and a phone
ON!Track tracks tools by itself. Its smart tags record where a tool was last seen; its geo tags report GPS location for machinery and trailers; a van gateway checks what's inside a vehicle and warns you if something leaves it after hours; and a telematics gateway reports heavy equipment's location, engine hours and maintenance alerts. Hilti's connected Nuron batteries add the location where a battery was last charged. Getting started means a consultation and productivity analysis, signing the ON!Track agreement, and Hilti setting up the account and training your team.
FlowNext needs none of that. You print QR labels on ordinary Avery sheets, or link the barcodes already on your tools, and the crew updates a tool when they move it, log its hours or report it broken. Location is saved from the phone at that moment, never in between. It's less automatic and much less to set up, and it works the same on a 1990s extension ladder as on a new hammer drill.

If you're on Hilti Fleet
Hilti's Tool Fleet Management is a different product from ON!Track: Hilti supplies the tools for a monthly fee that covers repairs, loaner tools and theft coverage, and Fleet contracts usually run four years depending on the tool. Fleet tools come with Fleet ID labels you can scan with the ON!Track app, and Hilti's higher service levels bundle ON!Track with Fleet.
If most of your tools are on Fleet, ON!Track is the natural place to track them. FlowNext makes more sense when your tools are a mix you own, rent and borrow, from several brands, and you want one list for all of it, including the ladders, harnesses, extinguishers and trailers that no tool supplier tracks for you.
When Hilti ON!Track is the better choice
- Your tools are on Hilti Fleet Management, or you're planning to move to it.
- You want tools to report their own location through Bluetooth tags, GPS and gateways, without anyone scanning.
- You need to track consumables and PPE with reorder alerts, or heavy equipment engine hours.
- You'd value a consultant planning the rollout, and need an API into your other systems.
When FlowNext is the better choice
- You want to see the price and start today, without a consultation or an agreement.
- You'd rather not buy tags and gateways, or fit hardware to every tool.
- Your crew won't install an app, but will point a phone camera at a label.
- Inspection certificates matter as much as locations, and you want their dates read for you.
Which one should you pick?
- If your tools come from Hilti Fleet → ON!Track, which is built around it.
- If you need location without anyone scanning → ON!Track's tags and gateways.
- If you want a mixed-brand list running by the end of the day → FlowNext.
- If “who has it, where is it, is it inspected” is the whole job → FlowNext.
Switching questions
Can FlowNext read Hilti's Fleet ID labels?+
If a label carries a QR code or a standard barcode, FlowNext's in-app scanner can read it and you can link it to the item. If it doesn't scan, print a FlowNext QR label and put it next to the Hilti one.
Does FlowNext have Bluetooth or GPS tags?+
No. Location is saved from the phone when someone moves an item, logs hours or reports a problem from its tag. Nothing is recorded between updates.
Can I bring my tool list over?+
Yes. If you can export your asset list to a spreadsheet, save it as CSV and upload it. Headings are matched loosely, so “Asset #” or “Serial” land in the right place, and every row gets its own QR tag.
Can I try it before deciding?+
Yes: 14 days free on Pro, no card. Tag ten tools and have the crew move them for a week.
No consultation needed — try it on your own tools
14-day free trial, no card. Unlimited field users on every plan, from $39/month after that.
