FlowNext vs. GoCodes
A GoCodes alternative billed monthly, with no limit on users
GoCodes and FlowNext both put QR tags on equipment and let crews scan them with a phone camera, no app needed. They differ in how you pay and who you pay for: GoCodes is billed yearly and each plan includes a set number of users; FlowNext is billed monthly and every plan has unlimited users. Here's the honest comparison, including where GoCodes is the better pick.

Where the money actually differs
For a small office tracking a few hundred items, the two cost about the same: GoCodes' 500-asset plan is $1,000 a year for five users; FlowNext Pro is $1,068 a year with no user limit. The difference shows up when more people need to scan. A contractor with 15 crew members on GoCodes' 500-asset plan would add two batches of five users ($800/yr), for $1,800 a year; on FlowNext it stays $1,068. And with monthly billing you aren't committing a year up front to find out whether your crew uses it.
When GoCodes is the better choice
- You want GPS coordinates on every scan, including scans that don't change anything. FlowNext records location only when someone updates an item.
- You want pre-printed, branded durable tags included in the price (Premium and up).
- Only a handful of people will ever scan, and you're happy to pay yearly.
- You need more than 2,000 assets with enterprise terms today.
When FlowNext is the better choice
- Your whole crew — including temps and subs — should be able to scan, without counting seats.
- You'd rather pay monthly than commit a year in advance.
- You already have tags or labels on your gear, or want to print your own today.
- You keep inspection certificates and want the due dates read for you.
Which one should you pick?
- If you need a GPS point for every look-up scan, not just for updates → GoCodes.
- If more than five people need to scan and you're under 2,000 items → FlowNext.
- If you want to try it on real equipment before paying for a year → FlowNext, monthly; or GoCodes' own 15-day trial.
- If you want durable branded tags shipped to you as part of the plan → GoCodes Premium or above.
Switching questions
Can I move my GoCodes data to FlowNext?+
Export the Asset List to Excel, save it as CSV and upload it: FlowNext recognises a GoCodes file and imports names, numbers, categories, locations, serials and purchase details, keeping columns it has no field for in each item's notes. Your GoCodes tags won't open FlowNext pages on their own, but FlowNext's in-app scanner can register them and link each to its item.
Does FlowNext need an app?+
No. Tags open in the phone's browser, and field users stay signed in after an emailed sign-in link.
Is FlowNext cheaper?+
Not always. For a few users and a few hundred items, GoCodes' annual plans cost about the same. FlowNext is cheaper once more people need access, because users are never charged.
