FlowNext vs. AssetTiger
An AssetTiger alternative for contractors whose gear lives on jobsites
AssetTiger is one of the cheapest ways to keep an asset register: priced by asset count, unlimited users, and the same features on every paid plan. Schools, churches, IT teams and contractors all use it. FlowNext costs more and does less of that. What it does instead is the contractor's day: a crew that moves equipment between yards, vans and jobsites from a QR tag with no app, and harnesses, lifts and extinguishers whose inspection dates come from the certificate.
AssetTiger is cheaper. By a lot.
Both charge by how many items you track, not by user. At the same item count, AssetTiger costs less at every size, and its plans go far higher. If the monthly bill is what decides it, this table is the whole answer:
| Items tracked | AssetTiger, monthly | FlowNext, monthly |
|---|---|---|
| 200 | $20 (Basic, up to 500) | $39 (Starter, up to 200) |
| 500 | $20 (Basic, up to 500) | $89 (Pro, up to 500) |
| 2,000 | $40 (Core, up to 2,500) | $199 (Business, up to 2,000) |
AssetTiger prices from assettiger.com/pricing, checked November 2026, billed monthly; its yearly plans cost eleven months. Its plans continue to 250,000 assets. Both: unlimited users on paid plans.
What the difference pays for
AssetTiger is a general register. It's built to answer “what do we own, what's it worth, and is it where the books say?” for any kind of organization: depreciation three ways, contracts, leases, insurance policies, warranties, funds, 80+ reports and a scan-the-room audit that flags what's missing. Check-outs go to a person, department or location with a due date.
FlowNext is narrower. It assumes the things you own spend their lives away from the office, moved by people who don't sit at a desk. So the crew's side comes first: point the phone camera at the tag, and the page that opens in the browser lets them move the item to a jobsite, van or person, log its hours, or report it broken, which takes it out of service for the next person who scans it. Every one of those is signed and dated in a history no one can edit, with the phone's location if you want it.
And it treats inspections as their own thing, not as one more maintenance schedule. Each item carries a next inspection date from its certificate, read for you on Pro and Business; the office hears about it 30 days before it lapses; and the compliance report prints as a PDF for the GC's safety lead or the insurer.

Where a general register strains on a jobsite
None of these is a missing feature in AssetTiger. They're the places where a tool built for everyone asks a contractor to do the fitting:
- The app. AssetTiger scans in its mobile app, so every crew member who scans installs it and signs in, including the sub borrowing your generator for a day. FlowNext's tag opens in whatever browser the phone has.
- Where it went, not who borrowed it. A generator isn't on loan with a due date; it's on the Elm Street job until that job is done. FlowNext's moves are to places as well as people, and a jobsite lists what's on it now.
- Inspections as maintenance. A recurring schedule says when the harness should be inspected. A certificate says when it was, and by whom, which is what an auditor asks for.
- Broken, found in the field. The person who finds the frayed lanyard needs one button that takes it out of service where the next crew will see it.
When AssetTiger is the better choice
- The price per asset decides it, or you track thousands of low-value items.
- You need depreciation, contracts, leases or insurance on the same records.
- You run audits: walk a building, scan everything, see what's missing.
- Scanning has to work offline, or you need an API to connect other systems.
- One register has to serve the office, IT and the yard alike.
When FlowNext is the better choice
- Your equipment moves between jobsites, vans and crews more than it sits on a shelf.
- The crew won't install an app, but will scan a label with the camera.
- You keep inspection certificates for harnesses, lifts, extinguishers or ladders and need the dates kept for you.
- You want hours, damage reports and photos from the field, not typed up later in the office.
A quick way to decide
Ask who will do most of the updates. If it's one or two people in the office, keeping a register current, AssetTiger does that well for less. If it's the crew, on site, in the moment something moves or breaks, try FlowNext: tag ten things, hand out the invitation link, and see whether the list stays true for a week.
Switching questions
Can I move my AssetTiger data to FlowNext?+
Export your asset list from AssetTiger as a CSV and upload it as it is. Headings are matched loosely, so columns like “Asset Tag ID” or “Serial No” land in the right place, and every row gets its own QR tag. Photos and attached files don't come across.
Will my AssetTiger labels still work?+
Often, yes. If they're standard barcodes or QR codes, office staff can scan them with FlowNext's in-browser scanner and link each one to its item, so you don't have to relabel. The phone's own camera app opens FlowNext's QR labels only.
Does FlowNext do depreciation?+
No. It records purchase price and shows cost of ownership from that and the maintenance spent, but there's no depreciation schedule. If your accountant needs one from the asset system, AssetTiger has three methods.
Why does FlowNext cost more?+
It's built for one kind of business and one kind of day, and priced for a contractor's fleet rather than an unlimited register. If the cheaper register would get used by your crew, it's the better buy. 14 days free is enough to find out.
