When a tag isn't recognized or isn't linked

When a tag is scanned, FlowNext either opens the item it belongs to or shows one of these.

“This tag isn't registered”

FlowNext has never seen this code — usually a barcode or asset tag from before FlowNext. Office users see Register this tag: press it, then pick the item the tag is on and press Link. Crew members are asked to tell the office. See Link a barcode or tag you already have.

“This tag isn't linked to any equipment yet”

The tag belongs to your company but isn't on an item — for example a spare from a sheet you printed, or a tag that was removed from something. Office users can search for the item right there and press Link. If the item isn't in FlowNext yet, add it first.

“This equipment belongs to …”

Whoever scanned it isn't signed in. Crew members of that company can sign in with an emailed link from the same page. Nobody else sees any details about the equipment. See Sign in on your phone.

“This belongs to …” while signed in

You're signed in to a different company from the one that owns the tag. Nothing about the equipment is shown. If you work for both, sign out and sign in with the right email.

“This tag isn't set up yet”

The tag came from a free QR sheet nobody has added to an account. See Use tags from the free QR sheet generator.

“We don't recognise this tag”

The code in the link doesn't exist — usually a label that was misread. Check the code printed under the QR code and type it on the Scan a tag page.

The camera won't read it

• Hold the phone steady, 10–20 cm away, with the code filling the frame.
• Wipe the label; mud and glare are the usual causes.
• Type the code printed under the QR code on the Scan a tag page instead.
• If the label is worn out, print a replacement. See Print QR labels for your equipment.
