Link a barcode or tag you already have
Use asset tags, barcodes or QR codes already stuck on your gear, by camera, by typing or with a USB scanner.
If your equipment already carries asset tags, barcodes or another system's QR codes, link them to the items in FlowNext. Most common barcode types work: QR, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, EAN, UPC, ITF, Codabar and Data Matrix.
From the item's page
- Open the item. On the Details tab, find the Tags card and press Link a tag.
- Do one of these:
- Point the device's camera at the tag — the page links it as soon as it reads it;
- type what is printed under the barcode into Code on the tag and press Link;
- or scan it with a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner, which types the code and presses Enter for you.
The tag appears in the Tags card, marked “Your own tag”. An item can have several tags.
From the tag
Office users can also go the other way round: press Scan a tag in the sidebar, scan the unknown tag, press Register this tag, then pick the item it's stuck on and press Link.
How your crew uses them
A phone's own camera opens only FlowNext's QR tags. For your existing barcodes, the crew presses Scan a tag on their FlowNext home screen, which reads both. See Scan a tag.
Note
A tag already linked to another item asks before moving. See Remove a tag, or move it to another item.
