Add yards, vehicles, jobsites and people

The four kinds of location, what each means for check-out and check-in, and archiving one when a job ends.

A location is anywhere equipment can be. Each item is in one location at a time. Go to Locations → Add location, give it a Name and pick its Type:

  • Yard / warehouse: your shop, yard, warehouse or a shelf. Equipment here is checked in and available.
  • Vehicle: a van, truck or trailer, such as “Van 4 (Mike)”.
  • Jobsite: a job, such as “Westside High – Bldg B”.
  • Person / subcontractor: someone holding equipment that isn't on a job, such as a crew lead or “Acme Electrical (sub)”.

Moving equipment to a vehicle, jobsite or person checks it out; moving it back to a yard or warehouse checks it in. The address, notes and person in charge are optional.

Crews can also create a jobsite on the spot: on a tag page, Move it has a box for a new place. See Move equipment, or check it out and back in.

A location's page

Click a location to see the equipment there now. Add equipment here adds an item with this location filled in. On the Locations list, the Items count links to the same equipment, and Position shows a map link once the place's position is known (see Phone location on field updates).

When a job ends

Move the equipment out, then press Archive on the location's page. FlowNext won't archive a location while equipment is still there. Archived locations leave the lists but stay in the history; find them with the Archived filter, and Restore one if the job comes back.
