How FlowNext is organized
A tour of the sidebar: what each screen is for, and how the office view and the field view fit together.
FlowNext has two sides. The office view is the sidebar you see on a computer: it is where equipment, locations, documents and reports are managed. The field view is what a crew member sees on their phone after scanning a tag: big buttons to move an item, report a problem or log hours, and nothing else.
The sidebar
- Scan a tag opens the camera scanner, so you can look an item up by its tag from the office too.
- Dashboard counts what is checked out, out of service and due for inspection, and lists what needs attention. See What the dashboard shows.
- Equipment is the list of every item, with filters, Print tags, Export CSV, Import CSV and Add equipment.
- Locations holds your yards, vehicles, jobsites and the people or subcontractors who hold equipment.
- Activity is every move, scan, problem report and repair, newest first.
- Reports has the four reports: inspection compliance, chain of custody, equipment by location and cost of ownership.
- Settings has four tabs: General, Team, Categories and Billing.
- Help opens this help beside the screen you are on, starting with the articles for that screen.
How the pieces connect
Every item has a category (which sets how often it is inspected), sits in one location at a time, and carries at least one tag. Each change to an item — a move, a status change, an hour reading — is written to its history with who did it and when, and that history can't be edited. The reports are all read from those records.
Field users only ever see the field view. Office users and owners see both: on any tag page they get an Open in the office view link. See Owner, office and field users.
